Baggage Handler / Ramp Agent – Manchester Airport

£9.25ph – 30hours per week minimum

Shift patterns TBC – must be flexible to do a mixture of days/night shifts.

Description – The main duties of a Baggage Handler / Ramp Agent include but are not limited to:

  • Safe loading and unloading of baggage
  • Operating a variety of machinery and equipment including baggage loader belts
  • Processing baggage using manual and automated systems

Person Specification

  • No experience is necessary, however ideally you would have manual handling experience loading and unloading items up to 32Kilos
  • Be physically fit and able to pass an Occupational Health Medical
  • Be flexible with working hours (able to work days, nights & weekends)
  • Must be hardworking & reliable with an excellent work ethic
  • Have no unspent criminal convictions
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
  • If you are successful at interview you will be required to apply for a Criminal Record Check
  • Health & Safety – If successful, you will be required to complete a security exam and therefore need to display you understand Health & Safety practices, therefore you will need to demonstrate you have a good understanding and communicate clearly in both written and verbal English.

Requirements – Due to the location of work being at the airport you must qualify. Therefore, you will need to be able to provide the following information:

5-year checkable history (employment, self-employment, education or benefit claim)

  • 5-year UK address history
  • Eligibility to work in UK (UK Passport, EU Passport, Non-EU Passport & Visa, Biometric Residence Permit, UK Birth Certificate & UK Driving Licence (British citizens only)
  • Provide proof of NI
  • Provide proof of address dated within the last 3mths (utility bill, bank statement, HMRC Letter)


  • You will be given a roster during your training, which will cover a mixture of early, day, late and night shifts so you must be flexible with your working hours.
